The Department of Africology and African American Studies seeks to hire an assistant or associate professor whose emphasis would be on one or more of the following: contemporary Afrocentric critical cultural studies, Afrofuturism, decoloniality, postmodernism, economic justice, cultural assertion, political movements, African civilization, historical interpretation, African languages and culture, African American social, historical, or economic experiences between June 19, 1865 to the 21st century, African American women, African womanism, mass media, or the Black Family.
Temple University is a state-related Carnegie Research University (R1-highest research activity) located in Philadelphia. The College of Liberal Arts is home to 32 undergraduate majors, 32 minors, 23 certificate programs, and 15 graduate degree programs. With its vibrant and diverse array of educational programs, the College of Liberal Arts plays, and its mission mirrors, both the historical importance of the liberal arts in society and the principles on which the university was founded.
Qualifications
Applicants should hold a PhD at the time of appointment and have publications and teaching experience appropriate to rank. Salary is negotiable.
