Job Description: The Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program at Washington and Lee University invites applications for a 2-year visiting assistant professor, beginning July 1, 2023. This position carries a 6-course teaching load distributed over Fall and Winter terms (12 weeks each) and the university's signature 4-week Spring Term.

Qualifications

Preferred candidates will hold a Ph.D. in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies or a related discipline by the time the position begins. Candidates should be prepared to teach an introductory class in women’s, gender, and sexuality studies, as well as first-year seminars and upper-level courses in their areas of research and teaching specialization. We are especially interested in candidates with teaching interests that would contribute W&L’s interdisciplinary programs in Africana Studies; Environmental Studies; Film Studies; Law, Justice & Society; or Poverty Studies.

The university requires employees to become fully vaccinated for COVID-19, with one booster. New employees must provide proof of at least their first shot prior to the first day of employment. Individuals may seek a medical or a religious exemption to the vaccination requirement.
